THE RACK. The nasr. fell at the first attempt to a capital start, the first to break the 1 no being Luck* penny, who rushed to tho front aud, overpowering hie jockey, had drawn himself several lengths clear of Ivy, B Iphcebe, and Play.'air before they had gone a quarter of a mile. Next to thie lot, and <lose up with them, came Duchess of Cambridge, Merry Duchess, Mavis, and Rosy Cross, these being in turn succeeded by Hilarious, Pageant, ana Macaroon, Great Tom heading the remainder of whom the last lot comprised Snail, Prioco George, Chesterton Rhidorroch, and. Stackhifm. There was ljlt'e change in this flrcjftr as the lot careered through. Chokejjade an<J came to the Ditch gap, wli , re they became more discernible, and, here Luckpenny waa still a , ; the he id of the vanguard,' which was now cotaf osed of Zuccbero, BeJpbcebe, Rosy" Cross, and Pagranr, up with these Queeii of Cyprus, Ivy, Mirry Dtjchees,, ana Chesterton, Hilarious occupying a prominent pqsitiop of tbe remainder, who soon began to assumo a etragglpg appearance. So faf the pace had been *b,ut moderate, but before reaching the T.Y.C. starting post it became too hot for Lu'ckponny, who wai \>y ?bjs time pumped out, and tbe leacf was resigneu to p.ncheis of Cambridge, closq in attendance i|pbn Wnoni waa witli Macaroon and' Pageant next, and Bify rious about a couple of lengths in their rear, just in front of Rosy Cross and Maria, promt' nent on tbe left being Scamp, Belphuebe, and Queen of Cyprus. No further change occurred until neariug the t"P of Bushes Hill, where Duchess of Cambridge began to hold out signals of d'etress, and Cannon also became uneasy upon Pageant, who had actually taken up the running, though his leadership was or.Jy of short duration. With hie retirement Zucchero was left in command, and close up with the three just named were Merry Duchess and Rosy Cross, Macaroon befcring his handsome jacket prominently on the right. All these, wjth their jockeys riding more or lew hard to keep their places, came on in a cluster, clear of Hilarious, pulling double, and one by one dropping away, the favorite had a clear road out of the Abingdon Mile Bottom, when M'Donald bis bead, and be raced home a very easy winner by four lengths from Macaroon, who beat Belphcebe a neck for second place. About three lengths from Lord Hartington'o filly succeeded Rosy Cross, fourth, and then a similar distance away was Mavis fifth, Plavfair sixth, Prince George seventh, and then in a cluster, came Zuccaero eighth, Pageant ninth, and Qoeea of Cyprus tenth, some lengths clear of Great Tom eleventh, Duchess of Cambridge twelth, and Hardrada next, the last lot comprising Chester' on, Sans Reproche, Rhidorrdeb, Luckpenny, Ivy, and Stockhain, the abeolutelaet being Ifonfire; Tivak hf * oa'e chrotfograph, 4mia. llaecs.
