Glendale was the first to pass on to the course, and was followed by Escort, Whitebait, Prior of Prado, Hampton, aud Bugle Horn, the last of all being Muscatel In the preliminary canter the latter went short, and Glendale, on the contrary, went so strong and well that he came from 7 to 1 to 4 to 1 instanter. Hampton galloped with great fire and determination, and so did Mara and Umbria. Glendale and Hampton were first down at the post, and they held positions next to the rails. When the flag fell at the second attempt they were o* first, but the pace enabled Webb to take a pull at his borse, and he was passed before reaching the stand by Muscatel on lower ground, with Umbria, Escort, and Mars in a cluster, and Ladybird, Bersaglier, and St. Cuthbert in the rear. Entering the cutting, Muscatel took a clear lead, and was folowed by Sinbad and Prior of Prado, whilst clustered at their heels were Glendale, Umbria, Escort, and Mars, and at the same time Stamford—am began to draw formard. They .passed in this order behind the hill; coming into sight the favorite still led, and, with the exception of Stamf ordham improving his position down the hill, little alteration took place; but Bugle Horn, it must be mentioned, had joined the second division, whilst Ladybird and Bersaglier still toiled in the rear. At the Newcastle turn Muscatel began to come back, and she held only half a length lead of Sinbad and Prior of Prado as they ran parallel with the road. Kscort, Mar.-, Glendale,' Hampton, and Stamf ordham were so closely packed together next it was imposs ble to make out their exact places, whilst Ladybird and Bersaglier were hopelessly beaten five furlongs from home. Before the straight was reached .Sinbad gave way, and Mars, Glendale, and Hampton passed Escort. At the Morpeth turn Stamfordham gave way on tbe.off fore leg, and from that point he simply followed. Just befoie the distance was reached Hopkins was hard on the favorite, and Archer at once sent Glendale through next the rails. .The movement was j so quick that Webb, who had just previously token a pull at Hampton, was left three lengths behind, but he speedily called on his horse, and, passing Muscatel at the distance, he thence challenged Glendale. A splendid race between the pair then ensued. Webb brought up his horse inch by inch, and, catching Glendale within the last three strides, he won a magnificent race by a short head; three lengths separated second and third- Stamfordham was fourth, Muscatel filth, Umbria sixth, and then came Vestal, Escort, St. Cuthbert, Prior of Prado, ,and Bersaglier in a cluster. Sinbad and Ladyj bird walked in with the crowd a long way astern. Time of the race, 3min, 3Ssecs.

A match has been made between Petrarch and Placida, to be run atone of the autumn meetings at Newmarket; 6 furlongs ; the horse to concede 13lb. It willbe a very sporting affair, and there is certain to be a lot of betting upon it, although Petrarch Seems ta be the more generally fancied.
