DECLARATION OF THE POLL The official declaration of tho poll for the election of a member of the Houso of Bcpe. sentatives for the Coleridge district iv the room of Mr J. K. Karslake, resigned, v?m made at Mr Bealey's wool-shed, Hororata, yesterday, at one p.m. Owing to two pcreom of the name of Johnson,'both claiming lot the same qualification, voting during tho election, the Returning Officer not being able to decide which was the right struck off both names, one voting forE: Hart and one for Mr Jcbson, This, therefore, will make the majority to Mr Bluett seven. We understand aIBO ths! four voters at the Ashburton who intended; , to poll for Mr Hart, filled up their voting papers, informally, and their votes were therefore rejected, aud another voter for Mr Hart arrived at the polling booth thra minutes too late to record his vote. Hid this not occurred, and the vote of Johnsca, the one who voted for Mr Hart, and who ii believed to be the person entitled to vo ! a not been struck off, the result would tas been a tie between Mr Hart and Mr Bluett The official returns now stand as follows :- Bluett. Hart. Jebson Hororata ... 64 30 17 Ashburton ... 13 52 2 Kowai Pass ... 29 11 29 10G 99 48 Majority for Mr Bluett, 7.
