Press Office, Thursday, October 8. Mr. Woledge has sold by auction the buddings lately so well known as the old Lyttelton Hospital, situated on Norwich Quay, to "Mr. Mutton for £32, the site being required for the extensive improvements going on in that part of the town for the entrance to the tunnel. TASMANIA. Tlie Launceston Examiner of September 19, reports rs follows . — Business has been entirely suspended to-day in consequence of the Railway demonstration. Quotations on Thursday were:—flour £12 to £13, wheat 5s 3d. Trussed hay £5 10., hydraulic pressed about £8. Potatoes £5 10s. Bran Is 3d. Very little doing. Retail Prices—Flour per bag 24s to 26s ; bread 41b loaf 5d to 6d; cheese per lb la to la 4d; bacon ditto Is 2d to 13 6d; ham, Is 2d to Is 6d ; potatoes 5s to 7s per cwt; onions per lb 3d to 4d. The Hobart Town Mercury of the 18th reports : "Wheat may now be quoted at 6s per bushel. Oats 6s per bushel. Hay £5 to £6 for country pressed. Potatoes £6 to £6 10s per ton, bags included. Transactions have, however, been limited, and confined to local demand.
DEATH. At Christchurch, on the Bth instant, Fanny Gertrude, tlie beloved and only daughter of John George and Sarah Ann Rudcnklau, aged 8 years and 10 months.
