Wilson and the other Gentle-! men signing the Requisition :— I Gentlemen, —I have great pleasure in complying with a request so thoroughly in keeping with my own wishes, namely, to become a candidate for the representation of Christchurch in the Provincial Council. I owe much to the uniform courtesy and kindness of my fellow-citizens during the past four years, and in consequence I feel that I can work in their service with a very sincere desire to repay a portion of that kindness. For a young and nntried politician to enter the Provincial Council with your proved and experienced members, is sufficiently difficult, but to repair the loss which you now sustain by the resignation of an old aud faithful representative is a portion of the task I would now assume which I can never hope fully to achieve. Should you, however, return mc, I \\*ill strive to merit your approval by discharging the duties of your representative 1 faithfully aud energetically. • I am, Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, J. SOMERVILLE TURNBULL. Christchurch, Sept. 15,1862.
