INSTALLATION OF MATOB. A special meeting of the Tauranga Borough Council was held on Monia>" evening for the purpose of tnj stalling the Mayor-elect. He was glad to set that at the recent public meeting the j candidates for the Council had «x---pressed themselves as ; in favour of the* water supply scheme, which •he hoiKMl would be carried to fruition. He 'trusted that Mr Jordan would have as pleasant a timc-this year in 'his "official capacity as he (Mr Bull) had last year, and that the whoK Council .would work together for the advancement ot the Borough.. When he vacatedthe chair last year he did so without the slightest ill-feeling towards Mi- Bull. He trusted they, would all work with the object of ail* vancinip the interests of the Borough. Adams and carried. The Town Clerk was instructed to convene a special meeting of all tho conimittees for Thursday, May 18. THE PUBLIC POUND. Cr. Southey drew attention to the state of the pound and suggested tljat the Impounding Committee might be requested to bring In a report for the first ordinary meeting of the new Council: The Mayor considered it would be better to defer the matter till the ordinary meeting on Monday next. HON. H. McKENZIE'S VISIT. j Tho Mayor intimated that the Minister for Public Works was due to arrive in Tauranga the following; day and he hoped that as many members 'of the Council as possible would attend and lay matters re- ! gording the welfare of the district before him.
