TI TREE POINT.
[own cobbhspondent.]
Any stranger passing through the small township of Ti Tree Point on Friday could plainly see by the pleasant expressions on the children's faces in and around that place that there was something going to eventuate. Old Sol was obscured all the early part of the day, but at about 12 o'clock he put in an appearance, as did the residents of the surrounding locality, on the occasion of the school children's picnic, which was held in a paddock kindly lent by Mr. Ford Franklin for the purpose. . At about 12.30 p.m. the gathering assembled under the weeping willows on the bank of a small stream, where all sorts of good things were handed around to fulfil the requirements of the "inner" man." Miss 0. McLean (teacher) and Miss Grant deserve special mention among the ladies, for they worked like Trojans,, and of the gentlemen assistants Mr Madill stood out on his own. After lunch preparations were made for races for the children, and it did not take long before the old sport "Andy," assisted by Mr Madill, had the little ones striding out neck and neck for the various prizes which were awarded to the successful competitors named hereunder : Girls' Race: Iris Vernon 1, Myrtle McLean 2, May Bayn© 3. McLean, in a very appropriate speech, presented the prizes gained .at school during the past year, but unfortunately your correspondent mislaid the names of the prize-winners. An enjoyable dance in the evening terminated the day's proceedings.
