DEATH IN HOSPITAL

MEMBER FOR HAMILTON O.C. HAMILTON, Sunday. The member of Parliament for Hamilton. Mr. Frank Findlay, who had a heart seizure when playing tennis on Wednesday, died at the Waikato Hospital last evening. He was 61 years of age. Mr. Findlay, who was returned to the House of at the last general election as National Party member, was born in Scotland, and came to New Zealand in 1902. He served in the last war as a Y.M.C.A. secretary, and in 1921 started a bakery business at Hamilton. He took a prominent part in public affairs, and was a member of the Hamilton Borough Council for 12 years. He served two terms as deputy-Mayor, and was the chairman of the Waikato Hospital Board at the time of his death. He was president of the Y.M.C.A. for nine years, and was an elder of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Mr. Findlay was formerly a prominent athlete. He won the North of Scotland decathlon championship in 1912, and 1920 he won the Nev Zealand amateur long and high jump titles. He was the winner of many athletic trophies. He won the New Zealand bread-making championship eight times, and was a well-known judge of cookery competitions at shows. Mr. Findlay is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters.
