R. J. Tizard, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Tizard, 25, Waiatarua Road, Remuera, has been promoted to the rank of Pilot-Officer in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Aged 20, Pilot-Officer Tizard was educated at Meadowbank School and the Auckland Grammar School, and gained a University scholarship in 1940. He joined the R.N.Z.A.F. in March, 1943, and left for Canada in January, 1944.
