OBITUARY
— m ——• \ v MR. JOHX AV. BEANLAND (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A former Mayor of Christchurch and a prominent figure on public bodies in the city tor the past 40 years, Mr. John Walton Beanland died this morning. He was aged 77 years. Mr. Beanland was a master builder, and for several periods was chairman of the works committee of the Christchurch City Council. He contested the Lyttelton seat in the interests of the Reform party in 1928. He was a member of the Christchurch Drainage Board for over 20 years, and chairman in 1933. He also served on the Christchurch Tramway Board.
