SHOOTING TRAGEDY
WOMAN DIES IN HOSPITAL
The death occurred, in the Auckland Hospital, at 2.30 this morning of Mrs. Kathleen Josephine Rolfe aged 36, wife of Valentine Kenneth S- te £- Rolfe ( ?.? ) - a carpenter, who £?f ,-£ IS Own llfe by shooting himHr,L \ v K oom at the Cecil Private daTL'veSni 011 early ° n M ° n - Mrs Rolfe's death is stated to have & the result of shock following I SJ inlvW £ eh l nd the left sh ont wvT* infl i cted b y her husband, from whom she was separated. Although conscious when discovered by her ! lste /' after four shots had been fired, Mrs. Rolfe was in a very serious condition when admitted to the hospital. Yesterday morning she lapsed into unconsciousness, her condition becoming critical. She failed to respond to treatment and never recovered consciousness. The city coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, b -M;., opened an inquest at 9 a.m Evidence of identification was given by Thomas Michael McGrath a brother-in-law of the deceased after which the proceedings were adjourned sine die. In yesterday's report of the tragedy it was stated that Mrs. Rolfe lived at 71, Vincent Street. This was incorrect, as Mrs. Rolfe had never lived at this address.
