Barnes, captain-super-ihtendent.of the Devonport naval repair dockyard, lias been appointed honorary aide de camp to the Uovernor-Generai, Lord Galway, in succession to Commodore 1. G. Glennie. The Rev. Father H. Hyde, of Onehuiiga, has been appointed to the parish of Dargaville, which was formerly administered by the Mill Hill Fathers. He will be assisted by the Rev. Father J. Bowling, of Te Aroha. Mr. E. Varley Hudson was a passenger by the early express for Wellington thh afternoon on his way to Christchurchy where he will attend a meeting of the Music Teachers' Registration Board and a conference of teachers of music. Lieutenant F. W. Armstrong, Lieutenant R. B. Dawson and Lieutenant . C. T. Foley, three recently commissioned officers who graduated at Duntroon in December, have arrived at Cnristchureli to take up appointments in the Southern Military District. Mr. Eric Ramsden, past-president of the Anthropological Association of New South Wales, is in Auckland to complete researches at the Public Library for his forthcoming biography of James Busby, which will be published in Australia this year. Mr. Ramsden has been the guest of Princess. Te Puea at Ngaruawaji'.a, and will sail from Wellington for Sydney by the Awatea on January 31. He is the author of a life t>f the Rev. Samuel Marsden.
