PAPAKURA BRANCH. ADDRESS BY MR. A. G. OSBORME. There wan an attendance of about 150 at a meeting of the Papakura branch of the New Zealand Labour party laet evening. The Mayor, Mr. S. Evans, presided. The meeting was addreeeed fey Mr. A. G. Oeborne, M.P., who epoke, of the Labour Government'* achievements. He eaid that when they had dealt with the social security measure they had honoured all their pledges. Mr. Oeborne specially mentioned the fact that the Government had provided cheap money for local bodies. The speaker also diecuseed the guaranteed price, which he claimed had placed the farming community in a eafe and secure position. The official labour candidate for Franklin, Mr. Piggott, briefly addreseed the gathering. A vote of confidence in the Government wae carried.

ULBOtTR AND PATHA SEAT.

(From Onr Correspondent.) HAWERA, Monday. Labour party branches and affiliated organisations within the Patea electorate have selected Mr. C. J. Duggan as the Labour candidate to oppose Mr. H. G. Dickie, M.P., at the general election. The selection was rendered necessary owing to the resignation of Mr. W. G. Simpson, the original candidate. Mr. Duggan is an insurance agent at New Plymouth. He unsuccessfully contested the Rangitikei seat againet Mr. W. S. Gleen (Reform) at the 1925 election.
