EIGHT DEATHS RECORDED. THREE STILL MISSING. SECOND BODY AT MANGAXANGI (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, this day. Eight people are dead and three missing as a result of the gale last weekend. Drowning caused four of the deaths, while two were caused by exposure and two by blows. The identity of the storm victim named Smith, who was found drowned about a quarter of a mile below his hut at Manga tangi yesterday, has been established as that of William George Smith, of 5, Hardinge Street, Auckland. - The body of the other victim, Mr. Alexander Mikoz, aged 58, of Belwood Avenue, Mount Eden, -,vas found late vesterday afternoon about a mile and a half below the hut. Both bodies were left on the banks as ;he flood receded. An inquest will be held to-day at Mangatangi before the district coroner, .Mr. C. K. Lawrie, J.p. Little hope remains of rescuing alive Mr. W. F. McLeod and his son Angus, who have been missing from New Plymouth on the launch Mokau since Saturday night. Mr. J. Montgomery, a baker of Ngatea, whose delivery van was found on Monday afternoon on the banks of the Piako River, has not been seen since.
