MATAMATA WAR MEMORIAL
GOVERNOR-GENERAL TO UNVEIL.
A letter has been received from the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, by the Matamata town clerk accepting the. invitation to unveil the War Memorial on Friday of next week. The vice-regal party will arrive by "motor cars at 3 p.m. from Te Aroha, and after the ceremony will be entertained to afternoon tea by the members of the Town Board and War Memorial Committee.
The memorial takes the form of a cross of sacrifice, and bears the names of thirty-nine district soldiers who died on active service.
Returned soldiers will be paraded tinder Major Wilding, M.C., the territorials under Captain Cross, M.C., and Girl Guides under Mrs. M. Pilkington.
