Besides the work on the : , new outlet, which is being handled by ! the Public Works Department, three new j stations are to be built in the other i suburban area. _ | The first of the projected stations will he between Papatoetoe and Wiri, near the Pulii Nui Road crossing, 13J miles from the city. At present tbe Depart- | ment is providing a small station buildin.; and platform, with footbridge access, nnd a small local siding, a goods ■ shed and a loading bank. Puhi Xvi ! Road is to be diverted, and will cross the line by an overbridge north of the j crossing. ' When Cue whole scheme is j finished, it ia expected that the cost will amount to between .six and seven thousand pounds. The main part of the cost I is represented in the overbridge, which will .be of concrete. The station is being laid out with a I view to doubling the line in a few years' j time. Work was commenced just after | Easter, and it is expected that trains j will be stopping at the new station in j about six weeks or two months. "Cambria Park" or "Cambria." has been suggested as the name for tlie new station. Between Takinini and Papakura. on I the southern line, a station is to be j erected in the vicinity of the old Glennra Park stud farm, 18 miles from Auckland. It will lie similar in type to the station Int Cambria Park; but. as. no through ! road will have to be formed or an ovcr--1 head bridge 'built, the cost is not expected to exceed £3000. This station was unsuccessI fully applied for five years ago. but was : granted last year, when a renewed application was presented. The preliminary | work has been commenced and the station should be erected this year.
