OBITUARY.
MRS. JOSEPH EVANS. (Cy Telegraph.—Own Correspondents MAXGONUI. this day. The death occurred at Mangonui on Saturday of an old and highly respected resident in the person of Mrs. Elizabeth Evans, wife of the late Mr. Joseph Evans, senior, director of the firm of Evans and Sons. Mrs. Evans, with her late husband, arrived in New Zealand in the -ship Andrew Jackson, in the year 1865. They settled in the north, then a sparsely populated territory, to pioneer in their backblock home at Mangatete. Mrs. Evans died at the age of i>s years, leaving behind her five daughters, six sons. 07 grandchildren, and 90 great-grandchildren to mourn their loss. The burial took pla<-e at the .Paparore Cemetery on Monday, there being a lanre attendance from all parts of the district.
