NEW ZEALAND CRICKETERS.

AGAINST MELBOURNE C.C. SEVEN WICKETS FOR 84. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, January 21. The last match of the New Zealand cricketers in Australia was begun to-day against the Melbourng Cricket Club. There was only a handful of spectators to watch the play. The day was all that could be desired. A nice display was given by Willis and Sandford. The latter should have been stumped off the first ball. He drove Reese for a six. Henty had one great drive for six off iSnedden. He gave two chances. The fielding was smart. Reese bowled admirably, mixing them judiciously. Bennett retired after 11 overs, owing to an old injury to his leg, Somerville taking hie place. At one stage Snedden had an average of two wickets for three runs. The New Zealand batting was not attractive, being unenterprising and colourless. The South Melbourne Club is entertaining the New Zealanders to-night to the theatre and a supper afterwards in appreciation of hospitality during their New Zealand tour.
