Mr W. H Herries. M.P., of Auckland. Sir John Innes, 12th Baronet of Bel"reney and Edingight, who died in London a few days ago at the age of 71, was formerly a J. P. for Christctrurch, ICew Zealand, where he was for many years a squatter. He succeeded his .father in 'the baronetcy thirty-four years ago. Sir John died umn-arried, and the "Wtli" passes to-*'his' younger brother •Simes.

It was in this district that as a young man Mr liana graduated as a preacher in the Primitive Methodist connection, his field feeing the Batley circuit.
