He was a zealous officer 1 Captain McPherson leaves two daughters, for whom widespread sympathy is felt He landed in Auckland in 1881 with his regiment, the 70th Surrey, ircsd India, having served with the 93rd Highlanders thrcugiiouc the Eastern, campaign in lbol-C, including the battles of Alma and Balaclava, capture of Kertch and Yenikaie, ilege and fall of Sebastopol. the assaults of the 18£ a June, and Bth September (medal witii tliree clasps and Turkish medal)., also in the Indian Mutiny Campaign. 1857-9 including the Relief of Lueknow-by.St Colin Campbell, assaults on the Seennarabagh (slightly wounded), tie battle of Cawnpore, De-ember, 1857, and pursuit of rebek to Seraighat. the action of Khodajrunge, the storming of the Begum's Palace, and the. capture c* Jjaeknow. He took part in the attack on Fort Royea. and the campaign of Bohfleund, including the battles of Allygunge Bareilly. Captain MePherson tos through the Oude campaign, 1858-9, including the action af Pusjraan, and took Dart in the attack on Fort Mitowlee. and at Biswa (medal with two elasbs). In New Zealand Cautain MePhersoa =erved with the 70th Reeiment and Commissariat Transport Corps during fl* • - ; war in 1861-5, for which he had the Jfeir Zealand medal.
