THREAT TO ASSASSINATE THE ACTING-PREMIER.
WELLINGTON, August 13.
This afternoon, shortly after two o'clock, Police Commissioner Tun•bridge and a private detective arrested Mr F. T. Moore in the public gallery of the Bouse on a charge of sending threatening letters to the Acting-Premier, Sir J. G. Ward. Within the last few days he has written letters to Sir Joseph Ward, pointing " out the fate of President McKinley, of the United States of America, and hinting that Sir Joseph Ward ought to have a bullet put through him, or a dagger spuit into him. August 14.
Moore pleaded guilt} at the Magistrate's Court, and said he wrote under a sense of irritation, and with no intention of doing what he threatened. He realised how foolish he had been. Prisoner was remanded to the Supreme Court for sentence.
