FARCICAL ELECTION MEETING.
A PROMISING ASPIRANT FOR
POLITICAL HONOURS.

John Woodward, the local candidate for Lincoln, addressed a meeting at Springston last night. The proceedings was somewhat farcical. The audience chaffed the candidate, who freely returned their chaff. Ho said thet tho name of New Zealand would not be improved by its going forth to the world ; and that its people were becoming a nation of whisky millers. In allusion to to Saunders stated that the distillery scheme he advocated was a scheme of "Jubilee farms." Tho land system was founded on that of the ancient Jews. After over an hour's good humoured disorder, Mr Woodward concluded by singing "God Bloss New Zealand," a song of his own composition to the tune of the National xVnthem.
