Although, the company Ayrshire' met in these races was scarcely first-class, still tho colt was always a good deal thought of, and not a few prophesied that he would be capable of winning a "classic" rac6 this season. Johnny Morgan, the stable companion of Ayrshire, started twelve times last sOa.soil, winning fchrc.' of the number, viz., the Rutland Plate a': Jjo Newmarket First October Meeting, tho Old Nursery Stakes at the Newmarket Houghton Meeting, and the Osmaston Nursery Handicap at the Derby November Meeting. Orbit, Friar Balsam's stable companion, and in whom the Dnkc of Westminster would no doubt put his trust, won three of the fivo races that he started for Inst season, and a few days back we had the news that he had triumphed in the Craven Stakes. Orbit's defeat would no doubt be a heavy blow to his stable connections. Ayrshire is among those engaged in this year's Epsom Derby. He is trained by George Dawson. HII'I'ONA.
